Originally from Los Angeles and Mexico City, Leslie is passionate about amplifying Latino voices in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. Through her work with Somos CT — a ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø initiative dedicated to elevating Latino stories and expanding culturally resonant programming — she is committed to informing, empowering, and celebrating Latino communities across the state.

La Dra. Violet Jiménez Sims es una agente de cambio y dominicana en la convergencia de la educación, la defensa de causas sociales y la cultura. Aparte de diversificar la profesión docente con el ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Teacher Residency Program, ella ejerce como vicepresidenta de la NAACP de New Britain y como presidenta de Diaspora Multicultural Society, donde contribuye al progreso de su comunidad mediante la defensa de los derechos civiles, iniciativas benéficas y espacios sociales inclusivos. Beyond diversifying teachers through ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s Teacher Residency Program, she serves as Vice President of the New Britain NAACP and President of the Diaspora Multicultural Society, where she uplifts her community through civil rights work, charitable initiatives, and inclusive social spaces.
